The Moore & Wright Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge offers highly accurate thickness gauging with the ability to measure through coatings.

With a wide measuring range and high measurement accuracy, this ultrasonic thickness gauge adopts the Interface-Echo-Echo ultrasonic measurement principle (IE), which is suitable for the measurement of the thickness of various materials. It is also equipped with a test function to check whether precious metals have been mixed with lower-value substitutes or plated onto a less valuable substrate and identify the purity.

This thickness gauge boasts an accurate coupling state prompt function to intuitively grasp the measurement state, and allows measurement information including thickness measurement value, measured sound velocity and time information to be stored easily. Perfect for the identification of gold bars, silver bars, gold coins, silver coins and other precious metals, this instrument can accurately measure all kinds of plates and processed parts and is suitable for use in the petroleum industry, chemical industry, metallurgy, shipbuilding, aviation, aerospace, and other fields.

The principle of ultrasonic thickness measurement involves an ultrasonic pulse which is emitted by the probe, that reaches the measured object and propagates in the object. When it reaches the material interface, it is reflected back to the probe. The thickness of the measured material is determined by accurately measuring the time of ultrasonic propagation through the material.
