Britain's largest manufacturers are growing confident in the sector's prospects, despite economic headwinds, a new survey by Make UK and PwC has found, signalling a positive shift in the industry's outlook.
Despite ongoing challenges, many participants believe that the UK is emerging as a more attractive global production hub than it was just a year ago, with nearly a third believing that the UK is gaining ground against manufacturing powerhouses such as Germany and France.
Ryan Kingswell, UK Sales Manager at Bowers Group said: “This survey comes as welcomed news within the UK manufacturing industry, and to us at Bowers Group. It presents an opportunity for many sectors to ride the wave on the turning tide, and we believe one way to gain an advantage is by investing in precision measurement capabilities. High quality, accurate, and reliable metrology solutions have a significant impact on both the reputation and output of manufacturing businesses, resulting in overall cost savings and increased production. 2024 is already proving to be the right time to invest in precision, and Bowers Group is ready to lead the way.”
Whilst one key takeaway of this positive development is the rising confidence among manufacturers, which may be attributed to a more favourable policy environment and a perception that the UK is becoming increasingly competitive on the global manufacturing stage, the survey also highlights certain challenges that persist within the sector.
With manufacturers anticipating challenges related to rising energy and labour costs, as well as competition from the USA and China, British companies are seeking strategic investments that can help strengthen their competitiveness. One such avenue for advancement is in metrology equipment, particularly where precision and accuracy play a pivotal role in manufacturing processes.
As the need for precise measurement solutions rises, manufacturers aiming to stay ahead must invest in quality equipment. Bowers Group offers a range of high-precision metrology tools, including its own-brand products and the renowned Baty vision range - both of which are certified with the prestigious "Made in Britain" mark, showcasing the brand's commitment to excellence and strict quality standards.
Now more than ever, with the manufacturing landscape evolving rapidly and the UK gaining ground against its European counterparts, manufacturers looking to capitalise on the current positive trends can leverage Bowers Group's expertise and innovative solutions to enhance their production processes.
From handheld measuring instruments to advanced metrology systems, Bowers Group provides a comprehensive suite of tools designed to meet the diverse needs of modern manufacturing.
